This course, digital marketing, has been a great learning experience this past semester. The goal with the course was for us to understand the different types of digital marketing and how to properly use these strategically on a professional level. Learning the different forms of marketing, strategies, and the technical side was beneficial for our future in marketing.
The different forms of marketing that we gained more knowledge about are marketing environments, digital consumer behavior, email marketing, SEO research, and social media marketing. I found the SEO research to be beneficial, even though I struggled with that particular assignment at the beginning. SEO research is something I feel is less talked about because it may not be the most interesting topic, but this is how you can receive more traffic.
We were able to do hands-on projects to help us further our knowledge and put it all to the test. We built our own website, did research to create a customer persona, SEO keyword research, and learned how AI can be a beneficial tool to use. By creating the website we had to learn how to use and manage our platform is a professional way. We also learned about email automation and how this can be a beneficial tool to reach people and get feedback. Then we learned about Google Analytics and Search Console which was an eye opening experience as it shows the performance of the website itself. There is a lot more that goes into website building than one my realize. The utilization of AI tools through Chat GPT and Leonardo.AI helped us create content. This was my first time using these tools and I can see how businesses can benefit from them.
Since we were able to use all of these helpful marketing strategies and tools we were able to get feedback to how much traffic we received through our website and the important details about those users. We used Google reviews and web analytics using GA4 to also get more accurate information about our website and users. Social media is another beneficial tool as it is a free way to reach audiences and share information and potentially lead them to another location. LinkedIn was the social media platform we used and by linking our website’s blog page it made it easy for them to view. Even though neither company reached out, I found success in the amount of traffic that I received (see attachment below) and what I learned throughout this course to help me in the future.
Overall, there were good challenges during this course, but we are now able to apply these strategies and marketing skills in the future. I feel like I have grown more on a professional level which will greatly help me in the future. Now that I know this information about SEO research, Google Analytics, website management, etc. I can work on fine tuning these skills to become more well rounded in marketing. This will not only help me personally, but this can have a positive impact on business that I may come into contact with.
