The goal for this assignment was to search for keywords targeting the company in three different methods.
First Method
The first step in this process was to identify the competitor of The Boutique Hub, however this was a tricky process as there are not many other businesses out there like The Boutique Hub. I did find one company similar which is Boutique Growth. I plugged in the Boutique Growth’s URL into the given website, https://www.thehoth.com/search-engine-rankings/, to find the top traffic-driving key words. With the given options from The Hoth, I chose the word Boutique Growth, because that was the only relevant option to The Boutique Hub, which was then plugged into https://ahrefs.com/ and the only option was boutique growth and the KD was easy.
Second Method
The first step was to search https://trends.google.com/trends and plug in possible keyword that relates to the business. I searched ’boutique’ first, but I did not get any results for related queries, so I plugged in ‘small business boutiques’ which I then chose the question ‘how to create a boutique.’ That question was searched in the Ahref’s Free Keyword Generator. The keywords that I chose with an easy or medium KD were: how to start a boutique business, how to start a boutique, how to start a boutique store, and how to start a boutique from home.
Third Method
The third method to finding key words was to use Google Ads and Ahrefts Free Keyword Generator. The first step was to search ads.google.com and go to the keyword planner on that site. Then we were to add a few keywords that go with the business. I typed in boutique, small business, retail, e-commerce, online boutique, clothing, and fashion which lead me to another page where it gave keyword ideas. I then plugged them into Ahrefts Free Keyword Generator. This part was challenging as I was not able to find two easy or medium KD per top three results, so I kept moving down the list until I found six.
